Bucket Member Interview: The Story of Dylan, Bucket Jeju Manager

Q. Could you introduce yourself?

Hello! I’m Dylan.

Since September, I’ve been working as a manager at Bucket Jeju, meeting various working holiday participants and exchanging languages and cultures with them. I’m enjoying my own version of a working holiday. When people think of a working holiday, they usually imagine going abroad, but here at Bucket Jeju, you can have that experience right here.

Living with working holiday participants in Jeju, listening to their stories, and sharing new cultures and values have been both a great learning experience and a joy for me. Building these experiences in the unique setting of Jeju is helping me shape my path forward.

Q. How did you come to join Bucket?

I didn’t go to college; instead, I spent my time challenging myself in various jobs, trying to figure out what I truly wanted to do. Looking back, there were many moments of uncertainty, but I hoped that meeting new people and gaining diverse experiences would eventually lead me to the answers I was searching for.

That’s when I naturally began thinking about working holidays, and by chance, I came across Bucket. I still remember the excitement and nervousness I felt when I learned that I could exchange languages and cultures with diverse working holiday participants right here in Korea.

“This is the working holiday I’ve been looking for!” I thought, and without hesitation, I submitted my application. That’s how I started my working holiday journey as a manager at Bucket Jeju.

Q. How is life at Bucket?

Life at Bucket is truly the essence of a “working holiday.”

As a manager here, I have the opportunity to grow through my work (Working), but I also get to enjoy meeting diverse people, exploring Jeju, and taking time to relax (Holiday). My daily life here is all about finding harmony between work and rest, which has given me a chance to reflect more deeply on my own life.

In the unique setting of Jeju, I can freely move between work and relaxation, making every day a new challenge and a healing experience.

Q. Any final words?

Bucket is a place I would highly recommend to anyone asking themselves, “What do I want to do?” or “What kind of person do I want to become?” For those like me, who are contemplating how they want to live, or those hesitating because it’s hard to break away from societal norms, I wholeheartedly recommend Bucket.

I hope this place becomes an opportunity for you to experience your own unique working holiday and find direction in your life.

I would love to see more people join Bucket and discover their own paths alongside me!
